Choose an experience taking place throughout 3 days. Attend a Pottery Lesson in Horezu and learn how to craft bowls, cups and pitchers.
On your second day, you can visit Polovragi Cave or the 'Vatra Dacica' sculpture camp. At noon, arrive in Targu Jiu and enjoy lunch at a retro restaurant before visiting Brancusi's famous works. These include 'Poarta Sarutului' (The Gate of The Kiss), 'Masa Tacerii' (The Table of Silence), 'Aleea Scaunelor' (Alley of Chairs) or 'Coloana Infinitului' (Infinity Column).
When you return from Tg. Jiu, you can opt to visit the Popular Architecture Museum in Bumbesti Jiu.
On the last day, enjoy a unique experience: relaxing with hammocks in the sky. Spend 90 minutes in a hammock suspended at an altitude of 200 meters.
If you are still feeling up to it, once you descend, you can visit one of the most famous caves in Romania: 'Pestera Muierii'.
Here is the full schedule of this adventure:
Day 1 - Friday
Drive to Horezu where you will attend a Pottery Lesson. Learn how to craft bowls, cups, pots, pitchers, everything that is used in a traditional kitchen.
Depending on your skills, the craftsman will hold an initiation course or help you perfect your craft during one hour. You will learn about the ornamental plates, painted with traditional motifs, manufactured at the popular ceramics center in Horezu. Motifs include Horezu Rooster, Peacock Feather or the Fish (simbol of faith).
Accommodation: Casuta din Povesti, Polovragi
Day 2 - Saturday
In the morning, we suggest visiting Polovragi Cave or the 'Vatra Dacica' sculpture camp
Spend your afternoon in Targu Jiu. Enjoy lunch at retro-themed restaurant.
The menu includes duck breast with mascarpone potato puree and raspberry sauce, duck leg on oven-baked cabbage, beef stew with vegetables and horseradish or a consistent 600 grams portion of beans with smoked hocks.
After enjoying your delicious menu, go on a walk in the nearby park and admire the art of Constantin Brancusi: The Gate of The Kiss, The Table of Silence or the Alley of Chairs.
Next, visit the popular 'Infinity Column'. According to an old tale, the communists asked Brancusi (whom they considered 'decadent') what the sculpture represents. He claimed that he placed the column there so it can support the sky... and the communists left him alone.
On your way back to the accommodation, you can take a detour to Bumbesti Jiu where you can visit a Museum of Popular Architecture.
Day 3 - Sunday
Today it's time for the relaxation with the hammocks in the sky!
You can get to the hammocks on a railway with an instructor or you can choose an easier access route. The climb takes about 1 hour. Rest in the hammocks for 90 minutes and then spend another half hour descending back to the valley.
The hammocks are suspended at 200 meters from the ground.
When you descend, you will find yourself in the vicinity of Romania's most visited cave - 'Pestera Muierii'. Optionally, you can go and visit this cave - it's completely worth it!
After a weekend filled with adventures, return home with a collection of great memories!
