Putna is one of the 44 monasteries founded by Stefan cel Mare ( Stephan the Great) , the most famous Moldavian ruler. Currently, the monastery, besides its religious value, serves as the final resting place of its builder. An important cultural center, Putna Monastery was built in 1466.
Sucevita Monastery - UNESCO World Heritage sites was founded later, in 1584, by the Metropolitan Bishop Gheorghe Movilă was the last monastery with frescos built in Bucovina. its paintings are inspired by the history of the Christian church and the life of Greek and Roman culture. Green is the predominant color. Now used as a place of worship by orthodox nuns.
